There was no way I'd win every session in the holiday. Today was the first day true No Limit variance prevailed. I got lucky in a few hands yesterday and came away with $360. Today I was hit with some incredibly sick situations, and ended up about $160 down. At least in the grand scheme of things, I'm $200 up. Right now however, I'm $325 down from the sessions I just played (was $160 from a session this morning) and thus feeling it bad.
Before I get to the details, one important message. Happy birthday mum! :D Sorry I couldn't be there but I'll try and bring you back those Uggs all women seem to crave! Missing you and will look forward to seeing you when I'm back :)
Now to the poker... 3 sessions. First Flamingo, second Imperial Palace, third Bills.
In Flamingo I had a pretty good time. Some maniac was to my right paying off every pair I hit and was doing pretty good. Some guy gets to a flop against me, and I enjoyed it loving my KK. The flop was a Q63, with 2 diamonds. He bets, I push as he has $70 back, and he calls with the diamond draw... Then hits it.
So that meant I left Flamingo with $360 which was pretty good, even after the beat. Took it to the Imperial Palace and found the worst game I'd played in. Tight, boring, nothing happening. No massive hands to note, but every AK, KQ, KK, QQ, TT, and any suited connectors I played missed within about 40 mins. I wasn't going to make $125 back with how tight that table was so left for Bills.
Finally, in my last session, there are 4 drunks on a table raising from $1 to $16 without even looking. I lost 3 massive hands here which took all $200.
First one I have top pair on a T63 board, something like KT. This maniac to my right bets $10 with $70 behind. 2 clubs on the board and I know he'd bet that with pocket 2's! I push all in hoping for the call, which he does. He shows a flush draw, hits it on the river. I lost about $200 today in flush draws hitting alone!
Next I have AQ, and the flop is an amazing AAJ. I'm against this tight player who makes a move every now and then in position. I check the flop first to act hoping he'd make a move, as he wouldn't call if he doesn't have an ace. He checks, and the turn comes a T. I bet $5 to see if he's interested and to raise the pot value. He raises to $15, but with my image, most players would have done the same... I didn't represent the ace before his raise, so knew he put me on rubbish. (He admitted later he thought I had nothing at this point). I played back and pushed all in for a further $80. He takes 10 minutes, calls, and shows me KQ for the straight ace high. I was pretty angry he took so long to call. Who folds the 2nd nuts for 80 bucks to someone playing lots of hands?
Lastly the drunk on my right raises to $16 without even looking!!!! I have KQ suited and only 50 bucks. I ain't folding here, but calling would be silly, leaving me with $34 when there's a pot of $32 out there. I pushed all in, he called wthout looking. Board comes, I miss, he shows an Ace, goodnight Vienna!
So lets look at the maths. $168 up from flamingon, $117 down from Imperial, $200 down from Bills. That makes about $149 down today. Yesterday was $360 up, so still $211 up.
I'm happy with how I played. Maybe table selection could have been thought of more, as that game was super aggressive, but the tight ones don't appeal either... Something to think about!
Anyway for the none poker readers, sorry! This blog kind of has been all about the poker. Tomorrow will be another intense poker day, but then we'll be sight seeing some more at the weekend and check out a few clubs. Pure at Mirage is meant to be sweet so will pop there tomorrow!
I guess that's it for now. Summary shows, end of day 3, $211 up. Lets hope the variance turns back my way!
Speak soon!
